Medical bills

Medical bills

If you are entitled to health care and have received a medical bill then this information should help you to know what to do with it.

Why have I received a bill?

In the main BFG locations, individual entitled patients should not normally receive a bill directly from a hospital. However, there are some cases that the bill may have been sent directly to you:

  • - You have attended a hospital other than one of our partner hospitals
  • - You are an EJSU patient (bills are almost always sent directly to the patient)
  • - You may have also received a bill for private charges that you have not settled on your discharge.

Please note that private rooms, telephone and TV charges and certain prescriptions that do not fall within UK NHS guidelines will not be paid on your behalf.

How can I get the bill paid if I am a BFG patient?

If you have received a bill that you believe should be paid by the health service then please send it, as soon as possible, to:

SHC
6th Floor,
Haus Burgblick
Gilead Hospital
BFPO 39

You should provide any additional information you can to help us understand why the bill was sent to you and not directly to us. This will help us to settle the bill and ensure that the hospital follows the correct procedure in future.

It is also a sensible precaution to take a copy of the bill for your own records before you send it. Please do not send bills to medical centres, or unit contacts, as this will only delay the settlement of the charges.

How can I get the bill paid if I am an EJSU patient?

We pay for all bills for regular treatment of EJSU patients. There are some cases, for example for outpatient appointments and prescriptions, that you may have had to pay for your care up front. These charges will also be reimbursed to you.
