Hospital Prescriptions

There has been a change to MOD Policy in the UK, which also affects BFG-based military personnel and their families.

This means from 04 July 2016 you are no longer able to take prescriptions issued by the hospital or outpatient doctors to the pharmacy in your local Medical Centres to obtain your medication. This includes medicines from the FOPD in Bielefeld, Paderborn and any other doctor, to whom you have been referred by your GP.

Instead, following your outpatient appointment, you must take your prescription to a local Apotheke (Pharmacy) to be dispensed. Please be assured that by using one of the pharmacies below, you will not have to pay for your medication when you collect it. If you use any other Pharmacy, you will be required to pay for your medicine at the time.

If you are not exempt from UK NHS prescription charges, you will receive separate written notification as to how to pay this.

While at the Pharmacy you will be asked to show your ID card and a copy of it will be made by the staff. You will also need to sign a form confirming that you have received the medication. English information about medication can be downloaded at

If you have any questions or concerns or do not fully understand how and when to take your medication, please ask the Pharmacist.
